Two funny stories from this week

Story #1, retold from Allen telling me what Saha's teacher told him: Saha was really happy that her friend S was using the toilet. Saha got really excited and went over to her cubby and grabbed an extra pair of her Dora underwear for S to wear. She didn't want S to put her pull-up back on and really wanted her to wear the underwear. Story #2, from Allen: When Allen went to pick up Saha on Thursday, she said that she had to pee right before they left. She went into the bathroom and Allen followed. Saha dropped her pants, stood in front of the toilet and said, "Stand, pee? Stand, pee?" Allen was like "No, no, sit down!" Luckily she did sit down and go. On a side note, she did the same thing to me on Friday, but again, did not actually try to go standing. I think that she sees the boys in her class go standing, so that's what she wants to do. The classroom is 2-3 year olds and they have two bathrooms with half doors, so nothing is really "private...

Mothers Day Weekend 2012

Image
Saturday we went to Tracey and Brandon's wedding, a friend of Allen's from work. Allen went to the wedding while Saha and I went to soccer, and then we all went to the reception. Tracey and Brandon have a three year old boy, Daniel, and Saha and Daniel had a lot of fun playing together. Here are a few pictures of them. I had a great mother's day. I was woken up by my two honeys with some great cards. Saha gave me a card that when you open it, makes monkey sounds. It was signed from my "monkey princess daughter." (thanks grandpa!) We were originally suppose to go to brunch with a couple of friends, but they couldn't go at the last moment, so we ended up going to Rustico instead. We had a great walk over. The weather was wonderful and Saha was happy to let me do a little photo shoot of her. She sure loves the camera! I love you THIS MUCH Having so much fun Mom, I want to see the camera! Running! A new-found skill, hanging! The rest of the day,...

Sunday bike ride and water fun

Image
Two Sundays ago, we took a bike ride up to The Yards Park, over by the Nationals' Stadium in SE DC. It's about 8 miles there. We got a bike trailer for Saha, so she had a great ride. The park has a kids' splash pool with a waterfall and some great fountains. We first went there last summer with Nelson and Gisel when they came to visit. Overall, we biked about 17 miles. (we took a longer way home to explore a bit) I forgot my camera, so all the photos below are from my phone. Luckily, the iPhone takes some pretty good shots in daylight.

More poses and being silly

Image
This crazy girl! She loves to sleep sideways! You can't quite tell, but her left leg is straight under the blanket, hanging off the bed. This is how I found her before bed a few days ago. Oh Saha She sure loves that baby! I really found her this way, it's not posed. Is that where the underwear goes? Don't worry, it's clean.

A few more poses from the past week

And one of the first time she made her bed by herself. Not too shabby!!

I just had to post this

I just found this narrative through a list serve and I'm sitting here trying not to roll on the floor laughing, tears streaming down my face. For all those dealing with newly trained potty trained toddlers and public toilets, this is for you!

Tonight's fun pose

Here she is, and we're not quite sure what she did to the baby (see second pic), who she now calls "Sarah" after her favorite teacher. It seems that she needs it to sleep, as she was crying out for it after we tucked her in.
