Canaan Valley, West Virginia - Columbus Day Weekend

Image
Over Columbus Day weekend, we took a trip to West Virginia with a bunch of friends. We rented a great house in the mountains , spent a lot of time relaxing, walking/hiking and eating good food. Saha had her first real stomp in the leaves. The evening that we got there, Allen brushed the leaves into a big pile and then Saha proceeded to run through them. She would run through and then grab the broom and try to sweep them back together. This was quite amusing. Saha really liked this rocking chair and she figured out how to get in it all by herself pretty quickly. The first hike we did Saturday morning was down to this pretty waterfall in the nearby state park. It was boardwalk/stairs all the way down. Pretty nice and easy. Mary Helen and Margo with Tristan the dog. Gorgeous leaves! We came across this playground that was a bit strange. It had this merri-go-round thing that you swung from instead of sat on. Alisa and Alex swinging Saha really liked this...

Saha said her first three syllable word - BUMBLEBEE! It's a pretty awesome word and we love how she says it. She also now has her first official sentence. Last week, we put her to bed and Allen and I both say "Love You Saha," and she actually answered back "Love you mom." !!!!! I may be biased, but I think that's a sentence, it's got all the required parts, right? Tonight she actually said "love you mom" and "love you dad" when we put her to bed! So sweet!!!! Her current favorite song is " Peanut butter jelly time " only because we started singing it over the weekend at the corn maze. She still loves "Row Row Row your boat'" and Elmo's Ducks . I think that we've weaned her a bit off the Elmo obsession, though and now it's more of a treat, as it should be. She is one smart cookie and actually understand cause and effect. Today, we had tofu fajitas for dinner. I put the plate of the tofu in front ...

A couple weeks ago we took a long walk on a Sunday and found an awesome new park behind an elementary school over in Del Ray, the neighborhood on the other side of the metro tracks from us. Since this playground was for older kids, all the equipment was bigger, but that didn't deter Saha one bit. She figured out how to climb up the stairs, across the bridge and down the slide, and she did it multiple times in a row. We finally had to make her leave since it was getting to be her naptime and she was not happy with us at all! Here's one from walking home from school one day. The quality is not the best because it was taken with the front camera on my iPhone (Saha likes to see herself). And for this one, she may hate me she's older, but man, it's funny!
