Today, when we were out for dinner to celebrate Allen's birthday, Saha did the sign for "more" all by herself, the real sign, not clapping, without us even saying the word! I was so amazed and proud of her! How long have I been trying to teach her that sign?! Hooray Saha! She can also point to her nose and her feet if you ask her to, and she'll rub her belly if you ask her where it is. Every day we are amazed by how much more she comprehends. She definitely understands a lot and we can tell that she's trying to talk. Something that we just started when driving in the car: I'll say  "la la la la la la la" and Saha will reply "yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah"  (or something like that). She seems to trying to say it, but can't quite get it, but she does sing back to us! She is such a happy-go-lucky girl, smiling and giggling all the time.

Allen's mom was out on the east coast helping out with the kids while Kyrsten and PJ went on a trip to Europe, so we went up to visit them for the weekend. We only saw Kyrsten and PJ briefly at the airport yesterday when they got in, but we got to spend the weekend with everyone else. Here are some pictures from the weekend. We spent Friday evening and Sunday afternoon in Old Town Alexandria because the weather was so nice. Saturday we had terrible rain and wind all day and there was some flooding in Old Town. I've included some pictures below of all the driftwood and garbage the washed up onto the shore at the park along the Potomac from our walk this morning. First of all, though - here is Saha's first taste of pesto pasta (after the fact of course) Some pictures of the driftwood It took out this little gazebo/pier. Today Saha and I left the house for a few hours so that Allen could work on his paper without any distractions. We went over to the park by the water. It was cloudy all day, but the weather wasn't too bad otherwise. Since Saha just so darn photogenic, here are some pics from this morning. We played in the park for a while and then Saha took a nap in her stroller while I took an hour long walk along the GW Parkway trail, to help with my Machu Picchu training. And per the subtitle, we had pasta with tomato sauce for dinner, which Saha just LOVED. Here she is after her dinner. We actually woke up at 6:15 on a Sunday to go down to the Tidal Basin and see the cherry blossoms. They were beautiful and even at that time there were quite a few people out. I honestly have never seen so many people with full on tripods and "fancy" cameras in one location before. We got there about a half hour after sunrise and most of those people must have gotten there for that. Here are some pictures of us among the blossoms, and some of the blossoms themselves, which are beautiful, as always. The weather wasn't too bad, either. I think that she wanted to go back to sleep after eating this morning and she didn't really get happy until we let her run around a bit at the FDR memorial. Here are a few random photos of Saha being her own adorable self! (As you can see in the background, Saha rules the living room) With two of her most played with toys Swinging in the park behind our house - week before last when the weather was nice, we went out there 3 days after we got home to play on the playground. Saha can walk out there pretty much on her own two feet, and the playground is at the far end of the park. She never wants to come home, though! Saha really likes whole milk. We're trying to wean her off the bottle, but for now, she'll only drink milk this way. She also likes to stand on pretty much anything that will make here even a couple inches taller. She loves the Wii board, and likes to hang out on it where we have it in the corner by the bookcase, both standing and sitting. There are a few more here 2011-03
