Saha's First Trip

This past weekend Saha took her first trip on an airplane to visit the Bourdons (Allen's sister and her family) in Minneapolis, MN. The reason for the trip was Meg's (the youngest Bourdon's) first communion, but it was also a good excuse for Saha to meet her Aunt Kyrsten, Uncle Dave and cousins Kaylin, PJ, Grace and Meg. Allen's parents were also there (Jay and Judy), as was Dave's mom (Paulette).

We arrived on Saturday, around 11 am and were picked up by Jay and Kaylin and taken to PJ's baseball game. We got there just as it ended, so we then all went home and had lunch. After lunch we went to PJ's other baseball game and partway through Kyrsten, Judy, Paulette, Grace and Meg joined us from Meg and Grace's soccer games. After PJ's game, we all went to Meg and Grace's second soccer games for the day. It was overcast, cold and windy all day so after spending a a few hours outside we were cold and tired.

Super Meg!

Sunday, the first soccer game wasn't until around noon, so we got to sleep in a bit. It was my first Mother's Day! I got a card from Allen and from my Saha :-) and Allen got me a purple sweatshirt to replace my purple fleece that just died a couple weeks ago. We had breakfast and then went to the soccer games. The weather was much better. It was very sunny and when the wind wasn't blowing it was very warm. The sun in Minnesota is very strong and Allen ended up getting a sunburn on his face.

After the games we came home, relaxed for a bit and then went to the church of Meg's First Communion. She was the only one doing first communion during that service, so she got to do a little more than usual. The whole service was about an hour long. Afterward we took some pictures and then headed to Buca de Beppo for dinner. Dinner was fun and Saha slept through it all. We were put in the special "Pope" corner of the restaurant, which was a big round table with a lazy susan in the middle that had a bust of the pope in the center, the ceiling was painted with cherubs, and there were pictures and paintings of Italy all around, along with a papal chair in the corner. We went home and had cake and ice cream and Meg opened her presents.

All of us after mass

Monday Allen and I had lunch with Grace and Meg at their school. Grace's lunch was at 11:30 and Meg's at 12:00. We stopped at Subway and picked up sandwiches for them and then Kyrsten dropped us off. We first sat with Grace and her friends, who were a little quiet. Their lunch is only 15 minutes long, so then we waited by the main office for 15 minutes until Meg came to lunch. Her friends were more talkative and silly just like second graders should be. After lunch Meg took us back to her classroom and introduced us to her class. She showed me the bulletin board where the flat Stanley pictures were and the ones that I took for her were on the wall, with me in them. We said goodbye and went home for lunch. We hung out for a bit. PJ came  home about 30 minutes before we had to leave, so we got to see him before we left.

Saha did pretty well on the plane on the way back. She slept for half the flight and was pretty happy the rest of the time. Overall we had a great trip, but too short.

On the plane ride over, I was feeding Saha and all of a sudden a big mouthful of the food that she just swallowed came back up. I had her head in between myself and Allen and I thought that I had gotten all wet. After she was done, I checked and I was completely dry. It seemed that the milk had fallen right between the seats! Allen and I got a good laugh from that!

Here's the full album. The pictures above are just highlights.
