Homemade play dough
Saha and I made play dough today and it's remarkably easy to do! She had fun stirring the mixture before cooking it and then asking me to make things for her. I seem to recall my mom telling me that when I was little I used to sit and watch my dad put together puzzles that were meant for me (as in I would direct him as to what I wanted him to do) so I think Saha's taking after me! Saha kept requesting balls, and then I made a dog and some hats and she just wanted me to make more hats. By then Allen woke up and he took over and made an elephant. Mind you, these are play dough creations, so not the best works of art (I do inanimate objects, animals and people, not so much) but she could recognize them, so I guess we're not that bad!
Here's the play dough recipe, in case you want to give it a try. I decided to just keep it white, since I'm not sure if the food coloring will come off after cooking.
1 cup flour
1 cup warm water
1 tbsp cream of tartar
1/3 cup salt
1 tsp oil
food coloring (if you want it)
Mix everything together except the food coloring, in case you want to make more than 1 color. Make sure that's it's very smooth. It should be about the consistency of pancake batter at this point.
Cook it on medium heat on the stove and it will start to turn to play dough really quickly. Remove from the pot and let it cool. Then knead it to make sure it's all mixed together.
So easy!

You're well on your way to making TWO different play dohs, one out of salt and one with sugar and then making them into circuits! Give it a year or two. Fun!
