We went up to visit the Bourdons a couple weeks ago. Saha got some good pool time. She is even more of a fish in the water. We also went to Grace's soccer game. I got a few good ones of Grace playing soccer

Labor Day Weekend and other things

Image
Over labor day weekend we went to Utah to visit Nana and Nani (and to go to one of my high school friend's wedding reception). Friday, Saha, Dad and Nana went to the Hogle Zoo, which is just a 5 minute drive from Nana and Nani's house. Hathi! Hathi! Giraffe! Who let Saha stick her hand through the tiger fence? (Dad.....) Allen said that the crocs were frozen in that position the whole time they were there. Friday night we had a dinner party in the backyard with some of our closest family friends. Saturday morning we went to Red Butte Garden, where Nani volunteers all the time. Saturday evening was Tuan and Katya's third and final wedding reception. They will be moving to Singapore shortly. Tuan got a professorship at the University of Singapore! Sunday morning we went to brunch in Park City at the Stein Ericksen Lodge. Later that evening after her nap, ...

August

Didn't take too many pics in August. Here are some random photos. Swinging! Alexandria Firehouse Festival Andrew came to visit! Playing in the rain Playseum with friend Joy Playseum with Mahalie Playseum Playseum doing "homework" with Daddy Saha vs. Nutella toast! Eating breakfast on "dress crazy day" at school In Market Square Saha has gotten pretty good with saying "please" and "thank you." She hasn't quite grasped the concept of "you're welcome" but she does sometimes say "thank you" instead. She has also started talking a lot more, and in sentences, but we can't understand them yet, but she is definitely saying something that has meaning to her. Our girl is growing so fast! Earthquake!

Yesterday, we had one the most unexpected events happen in DC - a 5.8 earthquake! The reason it is noteworthy to Saha's blog is this - Saha was taking a nap during the earthquake. The shaking woke her up and she immediately ran to the bathroom! Talk about survival instincts! Go Saha!

A First!

Yesterday morning, Saha took her first poop in her potty (and third pee)! Hooray for Saha! Oh the power of Elmo (that's out treat, watching Elmo while sitting on the potty). Also, big shout-out to Nani. Saha has started singing this song that goes "Whoa whoa whoa, tee, money money money, tee" and both Allen and I couldn't for the life of us figure out what she was saying. She sang it to Nani today over the phone and immediately Nani says "she's singing "Row Row Row Your Boat." We couldn't figure that out but Nani did! Saha's version of "Elmo's Song" is " la la la bow" for "la la la la Elmo's song" Pics from the last couple weeks to come later.

Fun in the sun

Two weekends ago (July 30-31) we had Gisel and Nelson (and Luna and Lobo) spend the weekend with us. Gisel very graciously took family portraits of us. I didn't realize until after they left that we didn't take any pictures with them! We discovered this great water play area over by the Nationals Stadium. There's a big pool that's only 11 inches deep with a waterfall at one end and above, a fun spray park that had fountains that shoot up unexpectedly. Saha had a great time in all of it. She just LOVES the water. Here are some pics that Gisel took. I'm keeping the best secret for future use! And here are some that me and Allen took.
